Basil Pesto and Bacon Crescent Rolls

Tired of the same old boring dinner rolls? Looking for a quick, delicious, savory accompaniment to your holiday meal? Look no further!

There are three ingredients that I always have on hand: basil pesto, bacon bits, and Parmesan Romano cheese. All you need, then, is a can of Crescent rolls. Open the can and roll it out on a clean, flat surface, keeping the whole sheet in tact. The dough is perforated for making the original rolls but we want a full sheet of dough for this recipe.

Spread two or three tablespoons of basil pesto evenly from side to side and end to end, completely covering the dough. Sprinkle bacon bits all over the pesto. Use however much or little you want! Then, very carefully re-roll the dough to form a log, similar to how the dough came out of the can, and pinch the dough at the seam to hold.

Cut the dough in half, then each half in half, then each quarter in half, leaving eight rolls. Lay them out flat on a greased baking sheet like you would cinnamon rolls, pressing them down just slightly. Then sprinkle the tops with the Parmesan Romano and bake according to the package instructions.

What you end up with is a yummy dinner roll that your friends and relatives will fight over! In that case you may want to make two batches. These are even great for breakfast!  Enjoy!
